Me

Hello there!

I’m Chris, just an ordinary person. I’m a huge fan of distributed systems, networking, security and majorly into the underlying aspects of blockchains. I’ve got a passion for digesting complex problems to make them understandable by any audience, and had a keen interest on being an educator.

In my early years, I focused a lot on the frontend and poking around the entire web stack (getting into that good ol’ LAMP stack early on). Now, although I still quite enjoy the joys of frontend, I’ve come to love Rust and a lot of the networking problems surrounding gossip and information dispersion in a open, permissionless system.

Blockchain Things

In terms of blockchain and distributed systems, I started learning about Bitcoin in the early 2013s. However, I really started diving into blockchains (and Ethereum) in 2014/2015 - when I learnt about distributed systems at university and started diving into research through a small summer research project.

From there, I was lucky enough to be one of the first few students in my university to undertake the blockchain area as a research field, which motivated me to get my PhD. During that journey I was also working at Sigma Prime, a botique blockchain security and consultancy who also maintain the Lighthouse Ethereum consensus client (in Rust).
