Hello!

Finally, I got a chance to set up a blog.

I’ve been meaning to really get on top of this for a while now, but I think the major delay is that I keep prioritising other parts of work/life.

I decided to take the plunge, and this time - here it is with hugo!

Why Hugo?

Well, it’s been a bit of a mental debate, I wanted something that I could publish markdown files, have the ability to write drafts, and something that supports all the cool latex, code, etc. - but at the same time, I wanted to find something that was easy to set up.

My top options were:

  • https://gohugo.io/ - Go written site generator and a framework that I know makes a good platform for blogs in markdown too. Easy setup, just set and forget and a few awesome themes.

  • https://getpelican.com/ - A static site generator written in python, does a good job and have used it in the past, but there was something that was keeping me from modifying it. I couldn’t settle on a nice theme, and I wanted to get started straight away.

  • https://ghost.org/ - A neat blogging platform, and the pro version definitely had a lot of features that were pretty cool, but I think I wanted something a bit more self-hosty, and to just pop markdown files easily. There are a lot of pros with ghost too!

What to expect?

I’m going to be writing a lot of my thoughts, paper summaries and use this as a way to dump my brain onto various pages.
